Ornamental Horticulture Council Overview Minimize

The Ornamental Horticulture Council of AgGateway is represented by companies participating in the supply chain delivering living ornamental plants and plant materials to the retail consumer.  The supply chain includes companies involved in the following:

  1. The origination, production and distribution of new and existing genetics (cultivars);
  2. The manufacture and distribution of materials that are consumed in the production of ornamental plants including but not limited to containers, growing media, tags and labels;
  3. The production of value added plant materials including but not limited to young plants, cuttings, liners, and bulb;
  4. The production of consumer-ready ornamental plants and plant materials;
  5. Offering ornamental plants and plant materials to the retail consumer;
  6. Providing commercial and residential ornamental landscaping services;
  7. Providing support services to the segment including but not restricted to electronic information systems supporting eBusiness.

The formation of this council has been driven by the uniqueness of eBusiness solutions needed to support living plant material within the supply chain. Allied provider organization will be full voting members.  

Mission

It is the mission of the Ornamental Horticulture Council to promote the use and standardization of eBusiness solutions designed to decrease the cost of business to business communication while increasing speed and accuracy.

Goals & Objectives

  • To increase the membership of the Ornamental Horticulture Council to
    • 25 by 31 Dec 2010
    • 50 by 31 Dec 2011
    • 100 by 31 Dec 2012
  • Conduct a survey annually to document adaption of eBusiness communication within the industry segment.
  • To increase the adoption of eBusiness communications (automated movement, transacting, and processing of information) within the industry segment by 25% per year.
