AgGateway provides a safe space in which companies can collaborate to further eBusiness. The published standards that result from this process are open for industry use to improve agricultural efficiency. Here are some examples:
Precision agriculture: Two of AgGateway’s major precision ag projects have completed a great deal of work and made progress toward a grower’s ability to use and exchange data. The Standardized Precision Ag Data Exchange (SPADE) Project is completing the new ADAPT toolbox – a set of software tools designed to simplify field operations data exchange. The Precision Ag Irrigation Leadership (PAIL) Project has demonstrated data exchange in connection with irrigation work orders and is moving to full field testing.
As these and other precision ag projects are implemented in the industry, it will greatly benefit farmers. Growers and ag retailers will be able to easily move data between software programs and systems to securely share that data. This will simplify mixed-fleet field operations, and make it easier for growers to manage farm resources and focus on profitability.
Paperless Fertilizer Tonnage Reporting: AgGateway originally launched and is now a partner in this industry imitative to achieve paperless fertilizer tonnage reporting to states by the end of 2016. Five states are now accepting live data, two states are working toward eConnectivity, and 29 states have expressed interest in engaging. (See www.FertTon.com)
Contracts, ordering, shipping and invoicing: eConnectivity for these functions has been achieved between many trading partners within the seed, feed, grain, crop protection, crop nutrition and other sectors. The benefits for companies and growers is the ability for better strategic planning and inventory management, traceability, more accurate reporting, fewer manual errors and better resource allocation.
