San Diego has been called the nation's finest city and it's easy to understand why when you consider it’s beautiful climate, stunning landscape and amazing cultural heritage, with plenty of things to do, see and explore.
Mission Bay Park, a 4,600-acre aquatic playground and the largest of its kind in the world. Surrounded by 27 miles of meandering shoreline, with a variety of waterways, inlets and islets to explore and home to SeaWorld San Diego. Mission Bay is bordered by several beach communities, each with a distinct vibe and plenty to discover and experience.
Mission Beach and Pacific Beach have the ambience of eternal spring break. Along the 3-mile oceanfront boardwalk, you'll find funky surf shops, beach bars, cafes and nightclubs. Be sure to visit Mission Beach’s iconic Belmont Park amusement park and entertainment center for a ride on the Giant Dipper roller coaster or game of laser tag.
Ocean Beach features a quirky collection of antique and vintage stores, bars, restaurants, artist studios and eccentric local haunts, most of which can be found on Newport Avenue, the main road through town.
Sunset Cliffs features parklands, dramatic cliff formations and coastal sea caves. Access to the water here is limited but the setting provides some of the most picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean. Just be sure to stand a safe distance away from the edge, as the cliffs are slippery and the surf is powerful.
Another of San Diego’s must see spots is Balboa Park, a 1,200-acre urban cultural park, home to museums, gardens, sports fields, a public golf course and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Take in the spectacular Southern California vista from the California Tower, one of the buildings comprising the Museum of Man.
Stroll through the 100-acre San Diego Zoo, home to more than 4,000 animals and 800 different species. Once you're finished at the zoo, head to the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, the Living Coast Discovery Center, SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Safari Park to experience animals as you never have before.
Liberty Public Market is open 7 days a week and offers the best of what the region has to offer. Showcasing a rustic environment with prepared foods, beer, wine, specialty cocktails, produce, fish, desserts and pastries, pastas, arts and crafts, a test kitchen, pop up dinners, and educational driven events. The grassy outdoor eating area features a vegetable and herb garden, as well as live music on Sundays.
The Gaslamp Quarter is 16 square-blocks of Victorian-era buildings and modern skyscrapers standing side by side and is the epicenter of San Diego’s nightlife scene - a walkable playground with restaurants, nightclubs, theatres, art galleries, symphony halls, concert venues, museums and shopping.
Sail across the bay on the Coronado Ferry for a visit to Coronado Island where you can grab lunch at the iconic Hotel Del Coronado or hop on the Patriot Jet Boat Thrill Ride for a 30-minute, high-speed ride across the San Diego Bay. You can also take a 3.5 hour whale watching excursion aboard the Marietta
Old Town San Diego, considered the “birthplace” of California, marks the site of the first Spanish settlement on the U.S. west coast in 1769. The area features historical sites such as the Whaley House Museum, constructed in 1856 and one of only two officially designated haunted houses in California. as well as shopping at the Bazaar del Mundo ~ “marketplace of the world”, free live entertainment, mariachis and period attire docents providing tours.
Seaport Village is a 14-acre waterfront entertainment complex recreates a harbor side setting of a century ago. You’ll find one of a kind shops, waterfront dining and entertainment
Torrey Pines Golf Course is a mere 10 miles north of the hotel and offers beautiful views of the ocean from the 36-hole golf course.
Visit the USS Midway Museum; a piece of America’s military history with more than 60 exhibits aboard and 29 restored aircraft that you can check out.
