ADAPT (inter-operability)

ADAPT Overview

AgGateway’s ADAPT toolkit is designed to eliminate the major pain points to broad use of precision agriculture data by easily enabling interoperability between different software and hardware applications. ADAPT is an open source project, allowing precision ag software providers globally to use the software and to contribute to its continued development, all with the goal of ensuring broad adoption. AgGateway's ADAPT Oversight Committee is currently coordinating with software companies on plug-ins needed for ADAPT's adoption. (ADAPT stands for “Ag Data Application Programming Toolkit”.)

Features

  • ADAPT provides an industry standard: Tools to simplify communication between growers, their machines, and their partners. It is the product of several years’ work by more than a dozen companies and experts collaborating through AgGateway.
  • Composition: The ADAPT framework is comprised of an Agricultural Application Data Model, a common API (Application Programming Interface), and a combination of open source and proprietary data conversion plug-ins. Participating FMIS (Farm Management Information System) companies are responsible for completing their own implementation of mapping the Agricultural Application Data Model to their FMIS data model.
  • It is simple to use: Common object model that you can use in your farm management software.
  • It features plug-in libraries that allow the farm management software to convert to and from the common object model and different file formats.
  • It can run on Windows, Mac or Linux if your platform runs the .NET Framework or Mono.
  • It is free to use and free to modify. The open-source license allows you to include the framework in your software and change it as you need. Anyone can build a plug-in for ADAPT; No permissions are needed.
