Dun & Bradstreet Transition Task Force (DBTTF)

Transition from Dun & Bradstreet based identifier (EBID) to GLN

  1. Eliminate issues created by D&B numbering rules.

    1. D&B no longer valid source for numbers and entity verification (delays and inaccuracy):

      1. Cannot provide an ID for all entities for which we need IDs

      2. Inability to enumerate physical locations which don’t have business entity located at same address

      3. Issues with bad data (our rules require we accept their information even if wrong)

      4. D&B stopped accepting corrections/changes from us

    2. Process causes unnecessary delays in providing a unique number (negative impacts for many business segments)

    3. More and more locations no longer correspond to D&B locations (AGIIS is not in synch with D&B numbers and has not been for several years)

  2. Move to single numbering system all AgGateway segments can use, eliminating need for subscribers to use different ID numbers for different industry segments.

    1. Desire for single unique identifier per entity (today some subscribers have to manage two ID numbers for exact same entity or location, if that entity is doing business in multiple industry segments)

    2. Two of the nine segments use EBIDs; remaining councils use or intend to use GLNs (based on the feedback to date)

  3. Use more efficient electronic methods for identification and numbering of entities.

  4. Elimination of annual processing and maintenance cost paid to Dun & Bradstreet ($30K+)

    1. Entity Verification and Number Assignation

    2. EBID License/maintenance
