By Josh Wall, AgGateway AGIIS Product Manager
AgGateway’s Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS) Directory Oversight Committee held a session at the Mid-Year Meeting focusing on data privacy regulations as it relates to the data in AGIIS. Clara Cottrell, Senior Counsel for Compliance and Privacy with BASF, was the guest presenter. Cottrell provided AGIIS subscribers valuable information to consider as data privacy regulation is beginning to impact how organizations manage their data.
Cottrell reviewed four regulations that are applicable to the industry: the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), Brazil’s data protection regulation. She also walked through the AGIIS data workflow and pointed out areas where the data privacy regulations may have impact. AGIIS subscribers had the opportunity to ask questions and even walk through potential scenarios that may impact their business.
We’d recommend that any AGIIS subscriber review this session if they weren’t present at the time. The session content is available for viewing by registered participants by using your meeting credentials. But anyone can access the session (and all others) by registering now for the meeting at the Mid-Year Meeting webpage.
Over the next several months, the AGIIS Directory Oversight Committee will be reviewing AgGateway’s Data Privacy White Paper, the AGIIS Subscriber Agreement and specific AGIIS data scenarios that may be impacted by data privacy regulations. The committee would like to hear input and insight regarding individual subscriber needs as they relate to data privacy and AGIIS. If you would like to participate in the committee’s discussion regarding data privacy, or if you have specific needs your organization would like addressed, or simply want more information regarding the AGIIS data privacy session at the Mid-Year Meeting, feel free to contact AgGateway’s Member Services team at Member.Services@aggateway.org or at +1-866-251-8618.
