Annual Conference

Join Us in Nashville Next Week!

By Scott Meredith, ACS, Chair of the Conference Committee

It’s not too late to join us in Nashville! Register now for the Annual Conference, November 8-10 by using the new MyAgGateway resource.

The in-person conference will feature an array of sessions and networking opportunities for companies seeking to realize the many benefits of digital agriculture. Details are available on the Annual Conference meeting page.

Among the recent program additions:

  • Opening General Session Speaker:  AEF Initiatives and the AgGateway Partnership (Monday, Nov. 8, 4:15 pm). AgGateway collaborates with AEF (the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation) on interoperability projects in areas in which we share an interest, which generally centers on field operations. We’ll hear from Norbert Schlingmann, AEF General Manager; and Andrew Olliver, Product Manager,
Precision Farming and ISOBUS for CNH Industrial and AEF Vice Chairperson and Steering Committee member. The two will share their perspectives on AgGateaway/AEF joint projects. They will also share updates on other AEF projects, including AgIN (cloud-to-cloud interoperability). The presentation highlights some of the many ways AgGateway members benefit from AgGateway’s partnerships with standards organizations and industry associations.
  • General Session Speaker:  Andy Beadle of BASF on Sustainability in Agriculture, with a focus on
Soil (Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2:00 pm). Beadle will discuss sustainability in terms of the importance of measurement and the inter-related nature of the characteristics being measured. Beadle is well-versed in agricultural academic research and the work of many multinational companies. Beadle’s passion has always been soils. Often an overlooked component of the agricultural production system, a healthy soil has recently come back into focus as a cornerstone for delivering climate resilient agriculture. Restoring soil health enhances soil fertility, biodiversity and resource usage, and gives us a better understanding of the current hot topic in agriculture, carbon farming. All of this requires access to massive amounts of data and data-driven solutions. Data will be the bedrock around how we build resilience into our future agriculture systems.
  • APIs in Agriculture; Past, Present and Future (Tuesday, Nov. 9, 11:00 am):  What’s the current state of API use in the agriculture industry and beyond? How did we get to this state and how does that journey inform what we can expect in the future? AgGateway Chief Technology Officer Jim Wilson will facilitate a panel discussion among industry veterans Doug Applegate from Praxidyn, Duey Yliniemi from Cultura, and Scott Nieman from Land O’Lakes that will address these and related questions. Circle your calendar for this event!
