MYM Report From Brazil

José Alexandre Loyola, Regional Director - Latin America

After two years of virtual-only gatherings, AgGateway’s Latin America region celebrated a return to face-to-face meetings on 7 June in Pompeii/Sao Paolo at the Shunji Nishimura Technology Foundation. Approximately 25 members were in attendance from a number of organizations.

The group discussed the four important strategic themes for the Latin America region: The impact of climate on agriculture; the importance of traceability for the agricultural production chains; the issue of water consumption; and carbon issues in agriculture – specifically, initiatives to regulate the precision agriculture sector of digital agriculture in relation to the data produced in this sector.

We also featured a presentation by Embrapa Digital Agriculture, which brought to light some solutions that are already available in terms of climate data in Brazil. After the meeting, the members were able to socialize, learn more about the Sao Paolo State Technical Colleges (FATEC), and tour the Foundation to learn more about the life and legacy of Shunji Nishimura, creator of the foundation and founder of our member company, Jacto.

On June 27th, we promoted another live virtual event on climate data with the title: New Era of Climate Forecast, moderated by our regional director José Aleaxandre Loyola. Guests included Miro Lima, CEO, Meteoblue Brasil, Luciano Loman, Executive Director, Meteos, and Mozar Salvador, INMET meteorologist.
