AGIIS Subscribers:  Annual Maintenance Has Begun!

By Chris Crutchfield, AgGateway Member Services

A series of annual maintenance activities will kick off this month to help ensure the data integrity within AgGateway’s Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS). This maintenance often results in demographic changes to entities within a subscriber’s GLN or EBID subsets. Once each maintenance activity is completed, subscribers that maintain a subset will receive a separate Update file containing changes to entities in their subset. It is important for subscribers to apply these changes to their internal systems to stay synchronized with AGIIS and with fellow trading partners.

One week ahead of each scheduled activity, and again on the preceding Friday, Member Services will send a communication to all AGIIS subscribers detailing the maintenance activity, timeline and subscriber impact. Below is a list of the scheduled activities along with a description of each.

December 2

GLN Reuse List Generation Notification – GLNs that are eligible for reuse will be posted to the AGIIS website. These are GLNs that have been inactive for four years and are eligible to be placed into the GLN Reuse Pool, meaning they can be reassigned to a new entity. Subscribers will have 45 days to review this list and add an exemption to the GLN which will prevent it from being added to the Reuse Pool.

December 7

Locatable Address Conversion System (LACS) - LACS updates are made to rural route addresses, replacing them with a physical address.

National Change of Address (NCOA) - NCOA updates are applied to entities in AGIIS that have reported an address change to the U.S. Postal Service.

Area Code Splits - Updates are applied to phone numbers where an area code has changed.

City/State Review - Entities are reviewed to ensure the city and state validate with the postal code assigned.

Address Standardization Update - Addresses on AGIIS entities will be standardized according to USPS standards.

December 14

Annual De-duplication – The annual de-duplication process identifies duplicate entities in AGIIS and determines one surviving record based on a set of survivorship prioritization rules.

January 31, 2020

GLN Reuse Implementation – GLNs without an exemption will be placed into the GLN Reuse Pool. These GLNs will be available in AGIIS to be reassigned to a new, active entity.
