AgGateway Family Time: Sharing Information with Members

By Chris Crutchfield, AgGateway Member Services

Summer is the time of year we often spend more time with family. If you have kids or grandkids, they are out of school with way too much time on their hands. It’s the ideal time for those long car rides and lasting memories. And many look forward to the iconic family reunion, which showcases the best of your family from food to stories – and most of all the people who represent who you are and where you are from.

AgGateway just had its own “family reunion” at the Mid-Year Meeting. Our members gathered to share stories and enjoy the opportunity to re-connect face-to-face. But our focus wasn’t on graduations, weddings and personal well-being, but rather on the ways individuals with common interests are collaborating to expand the use of information through digital agriculture.

This year’s meeting provided several educational opportunities for participants including an AgGateway 101 Session which was an introduction to AgGateway activities and how the organization works, for those new to the organization. There was also an Ag Industry Identification System 101 (AGIIS) session which covered why unique identifiers are key to eConnectivity efforts and how organizations can become AGIIS subscribers and get started. If you think these presentations would be fruitful for you or others, please take a look or share them!

The Mid-Year Meeting is also a time members collaborate to resolve pain points in the industry and create solutions to streamline their operations and ultimately improve the bottom line. This year there were working groups on Traceability, Seed Messaging, Mix Ticket, Product Catalog and much more. To find out more about these working groups or other resources AgGateway has to offer, please contact Member Services at Member.Services@AgGateway.org or (866) 251-8618.

The AgGateway “family” will be getting back together November 4-6 in New Orleans for our Annual Conference. We hope to see you there!
