Moving Precision Ag Activities Forward at InfoAg 2018

AgGateway had a strong presence at the annual InfoAg Conference in St. Louis, Mo., last month. In addition to exhibiting, AgGateway President & CEO Wendy Smith, and Executive VP & COO Brent Kemp, discussed AgGateway initiatives and projects with many of the companies in attendance. More than 30 AgGateway members exhibited at the event – and proudly displayed their “AgGateway Member” placards at their booths. Several AgGateway leaders were also on the program.

AgGateway was once again pleased to share our booth with the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF), demonstrating the mutual interest of both organizations in promoting the implementation of standards. Read more...

AEF Encourages Implementation of Standards in Agriculture

AgGateway and the Agricultural Industry Electronics Foundation (AEF) have already forged a long and fruitful collaborative relationship, and now AEF has formalized that relationship by becoming an AgGateway member. We were also happy to share a booth with AEF at last month’s InfoAg Conference!

AEF’s mission is the development and support for the implementation of generally accepted standards for electric and electronic interfaces, as well as standards for data exchange for the ag machinery industry. Read more...

The AgGateway Member Portal – Have You Registered?

Since the 2018 AgGateway Mid-Year Meeting in June, over 160 individuals from member organizations have signed up to use the new AgGateway Member Portal! These folks can now review their personal contact information on file with AgGateway and update their office address, phone number, email address and job title. They can also elect to join or remove themselves from AgGateway councils, committees, working groups and the monthly newsletter distribution list. The Member Portal also allows members to pay invoices online, manage their public profile settings, and look up other members’ contact information, all in one convenient location. Read more...

The days of Windows as the primary mobile operating system for manufacturers and distributors are coming to a close. With an end-of-life date for Windows, companies have been making the switch to other operating systems. This month we highlight some great recent coverage of Plugfest 2018 in Lincoln, Neb., where Joe Tevis of Topcon Agriculture discussed work of AgGateway’s new Traceability Working Group.

3 Takeaways from Plugfest 2018  Precision Farming Dealer, June 1, 2018 — Joe Tevis, senior consultant for Topcon Agriculture discussed AgGateway seed connectivity [initiatives]. As the focus for farmers expands beyond the creation of yield maps and applied data, Tevis says the project is designed to help farmers manage their seed data by simplifying the varying standards for how that data can be received and exchanged.

“We’ve started to look at our traceability working group and seed identity preservation, which means accurately recording the seed right as it gets loaded into the planter,” he says. “This allows us to capture data that’s not available to us in the planting process, including batch numbers and load IDs.” Read more...
