AgGateway Press Release
AgGateway’s ADAPT and ISOXML Plugin have been awarded the 2019 Davidson Prize, selected as one of the top three innovations of 2019 by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) and the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). The two organizations presented the prize in early March at the Commodity Classic in Orlando, Fla.
“We’re thrilled to receive the Davidson Prize on behalf of the hard-working AgGateway member companies who have put years of effort into ADAPT as a means to move precision agriculture forward for the entire industry,” said AgGateway Executive Vice President and COO Brent Kemp.
Dan Danford, Chairman of AgGateway’s ADAPT Oversight Committee and Global Industry Relations Manager at CNH Industrial, added, “This prize reflects the work of many leaders from different companies who came together through AgGateway to solve this problem of data interoperability in field operations. We continue to improve upon ADAPT and recently released ADAPT 2.0, incorporating enhancements to facilitate adoption by the broad agricultural community.”
AgGateway’s ADAPT Framework (Agricultural Data Application Programming Toolkit) is an open-source project designed to make it easy for various hardware and software systems that growers use in their businesses to seamlessly communicate with one another through a standard industry framework. The ADAPT ISOXML Plugin makes it easier for Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS) to read and write data to/from displays and terminals that use the ISOXML specification. The plugin provides a standard that can either be adopted or used as a guide in developing other plugins that allow proprietary systems to “plug in” to the ADAPT framework.
All segments of the agricultural industry that either use or create field operations data are expected to benefit from ADAPT, especially as leveraging data becomes critical for advancing productivity, efficiency and sustainability. More information on ADAPT can be found at www.ADAPTFramework.org.
The Davidson Prize, which was inaugurated last year, singles out the top three agricultural equipment innovations of the year from ASABE’s annual AE50 honorees. The AE50 awards, which were announced in December, honor the year’s most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries. The other two Davidson Prize winners were GUSS, for the GUSS Automation (Global Unmanned Spray System); and CapstanAG™, for the SwathPro™ Aerial Application System.
AgGateway’s AE50 Winners
Several of the AE50 winners this year were AgGateway members, reflecting the cutting edge technologies contributed by companies active in our organization. Congratulations to these AgGateway members for these award-winning innovations!
