Digging in on AGIIS Training at Mid-Year Meeting

By Chris Crutchfield, Member Services Program Director

AgGateway’s Mid-Year Meeting will be held Monday, June 12 through Wednesday, June 14 at Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Altoona, IA. Taking feedback from the AgGateway Member Advisory Panel, additional sessions have been added to the agenda that will take a deeper dive into the Ag Industry Identification System (AGIIS). In this article, I would like to highlight these and other sessions that may be of interest to current and potential AGIIS subscribers.

AgGateway’s Member Advisory Panel is a group of member volunteers that meet during AgGateway’s two face-to face meetings each year. The purpose of this group is to provide AgGateway staff with feedback from a member perspective. In 2022, this panel suggested providing additional educational sessions around AGIIS to further educate users on AGIIS functionality and to help members connect the dots between AGIIS and the usage of unique identification throughout the agriculture industry.

In years past, face-to-face meetings have offered an “entry level” AGIIS education session, “AGIIS 101.” At this year’s Mid-Year Meeting, we are not only offering this session, but also, “AGIIS 102,” which will inform users of the most efficient method to manage, navigate, input, and access information to and from AGIIS. The session will highlight best practices and provide tips for a successful user experience.

In addition to these sessions, the AGIIS Directory Oversight Committee (DOC) will be holding their monthly meeting. The DOC is responsible for establishing policies and procedures and overseeing the maintenance and care of the AGIIS Directory. This meeting is open to all and will provide interested stakeholders with an opportunity to learn more about the AGIIS Directory and all that goes into supporting this valuable industry resource.

With the AGIIS sessions being offered at this year’s Mid-Year Meeting, I would encourage any current or prospective AGIIS user to register now for the meeting and to add these sessions to your agenda. Attendees will come away with a greater understanding of AGIIS’s functionality and be able to apply best practices learned from these sessions.

Throughout the week, the Member Services team will be available to provide one-on-one support for all AGIIS and AgGateway related inquiries. This is a great opportunity to learn more about AGIIS and the exciting work being conducted in AgGateway. The meeting agenda contains multiple time slots under the title, “Member Services Live” in which you can drop by the Member Services desk to obtain direct one-on-one support.

The Member Services team is looking forward to working with you and seeing you soon in Altoona!
